Default How in the hell is this a write off?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...489990880&rd=1

Unles there's a whole lot of hidden damage there, of course. But it looks like it's just had a little slide on the right- there's a chip in the front fairing, teh mirror'll be mangled, broken mudguard, but by and large it looks better than mine did after it got knocked over last week...

Just thought the project or minitwin-inclined might be interested...

Cat D normally means Stolen recovered and I think that would fit with the no keys/log book etc.

Best guess been nicked and binned and owner has settled rather than taking it back. They make excellent buys.

Having said that I think this one is overpriced.

How badly would Cat D affect the resale price in future? Because if you took the time to put that right from Ebay bits and respraying repairable panels, the key set and the red tape is the only real expense in that one...

Anyone know if Suzuki keep key logs on file? I know some manufacturers can make a new key to order with nothing but the chassis number and proof of ownership, but I don't know if Suzuki do...

If I had the cash and the space... (I keep on saying that...)

Default Stolen recovered...

I think Patch is right, it has been stolen and recovered - It takes very little damage to write off a bike of that age.

The keys and lock set will be around 200 quid, the damaged plastics add another couple of hundred and damaging the foot rests could have just marked the frame.

You wouldn't need anything else. Would make a good race bike as you say.

My bike was a cat D but had been sorted already sort of....
Fixing this bike up will never make you a profit, but if like me you park outside, leave the plastics scratched and just ride it.

Doesn't look like it'd need new plastic... Front panel could be repaired and resprayed for about £40, mudguard might be the same, indicator- well, minis are £15 a pair, or if you're like mw you've got the originals lying around Something's gone a bit wrong with the grab rail, and the brake lever's almost certainly bitten the dust. (though there's still something on there)

I'd love to have a crack at it

Class D = Stolen / recovered. Some minor damage allowed such as locks being drilled.

Class C = plastics ruined, smashed front (wheel buckled/forks bent) and poss dinted tank. Typical of a rider coming off on a road.

Class B = minor frame damage (poss repairable) and/or completely destroyed outer frame objects. Typical of a rider coming of at speed.

Class A = death trap!, unreparable frame damage. Typical of a rider driving head on into a truck.
