Default New tyre = sideways!

LOL... got a new rear tyre fitted last week, first time I've had one done (my first bike and it had run-in tyres when I bought it). I knew they were slippy when new but.....!

Pulled out of the junction at the end of my street, 2nd gear probably only 2k-2.5k RPM, straightened up then gave a bit of throttle to get up to speed and wham, the revs fly up as the rear wheel squirms with lack of grip and promptly tries to overtake the front

Can't say I've ever done this on a bike, so I gently rolled off and steered into the slide, quickly getting it under control. In a car the worst thing you can do in this scenario is lift off cos the weight transfer will probably cause the car to spin... but I dare say the bike is different in many ways.

Just glad it happened at 20MPH, and I'll be crawling around like a learner on a 50cc moped for a few miles until I'm confident the tyres are up to speed

exactly why they tell you to be careful for 100 miles.... altho I find 50 is enough usually

Gives you a lovely adrenaline buzz tho don't it....

I'm sorry, I thought you thought you WERE on your own, we mere mortals just have to try and see if we can keep sight of you as you fade into the distance and traffic, whilst trying to carve through the carnage that you have left in your wake

Two laps of Cadwell scrubs in a set of tyres, that`s two laps or proper ring twitching even an a little bike!! haha

The D220s will spin anyway when they`re cold, new or not.
