Default Help me make up my mind!

Help me please, Im in need of sound advice!

I have fallen in love with the SV650S K4 and I am looking to buy new in the spring. I currently have a CBR400RR and find it incredibly uncomfortable over distance due to my height (6ft) will I find the SV more comfortable and practical for mileage without losing the fun factor of my beloved "babyblade".

I have chosen the SV for many reasons; price, looks, relaxed position and the noise is rather delightful too! Although I have never ridden a twin before, will I like it?

I am still only 22 and so the cheap insurance is also a factor. However I do want to try a few track days and mostly use my bike for fun!

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

go for the yellow SVS . . .
(new one - not the curvy one)

or a CBR600F (bit more comfortable than the RR and equally as quick )

sorry - didnt read the question properly.

I think you should do it mate! You know you want to! I am 5"11" and do not find the SV uncomfortable at all unless I am not paying attention and allowing my weight to move forward on to the wrists. You can adapt your seating depending upon how you want to ride eg. bit more sporty for bends etc. I tend to wrap myself around the tank a bit more which helps put a bit more weight over the front end. Pop an end can on her and you will fall in love over and over again! Enjoy.

Thanks for the tips Guys, I do quite fancy a yellow one, but I would have to paint the wheels, any suggestions?

Are the pipes easy to fit, I heard nightmares of hacking through the pipe and stuff???

CBR600 engine (85bhp at rear-wheel in std trim) but a more comfortable upright riding position. Great tool for the twisties and back-roads. Easy-peasy in town, and handles track-days comfortably too. And no expensive plastics if you bin it

Default RE: SVS600

Dude, go for the sv. I have an '03 silver SVS650. I am 24 and also a monster, I am 6'3". I've never ridden an RR but I have ridden a similar bike and my knee's tend to hit the fairing when I brake hard, i don't know about you. The SV doesn't have fairing there so it's no prob. It's ok for long hauls but a bit tiring on the hands after 300km of riding. It doesn't have as much power as the RR but because of the twin, you can whip it around the corners!! I just took the rear fender off mine, looks sexy, nice and clean and easy to do, only four bolts. The only thing you may not like is the suspension, it will be a lot softer than the RR, this is my first 600 bike and it's fine for me. You can always upgrade the suspension, I heard GIXER parts are bolt on.

I couldn't recommend the SV enough.

I too am 6ft 3 & have found the SV (650) an excellant bike over the 3 years I have owned her. Ok, I have the curvy one but IMHO prefer the "old skool" looks. I would highly recommend a Suzuki gel seat & R&G crash bungs, they double as excellant cruiser style pegs from which you can stretch & hold your legs out on during long ride outs. As for track days, the little SV will put many, much bigger bikes, to shame! Trust me I've taken her to the Alps & back without any fuss.

Go for it, you won't be disappointed. + get the exhaust mofified & it will sound absolutely amazing. + meet the Soho massive in London some time whilst you're at it, not that I go down there much .

D.

Thanks for all the help guys, I think I could quite easily be swayed towards the Svs, but which colour?? I really cant make up my mind.

If anyone knows any good insurance companies for young sv riders that would be helpful too and also good cheap dealers of the bikes new!!
