Default SV650 or...?

Been offered a yellow "W" reg sv650s or an "R" reg yellow VTR1000

both equal in condition and about the same mileage. VTR has extras (microns, dub bub screen etc) but the SV is standard.

I know this is an SV forum but in case anyone has had experience with a VTR I'd like to know which you'd go for.

I've heard the Firestrom is a bit bland and has a terrible tank range??

I don't think there's much difference in performance either (well, up to 90 odd anyway). Also, the VTR is going to be much heavier, in terms of weight AND insurance premiums!!!

It also depends on what bikes you rode before, SV is a perfect first stead, the VTR might be a bit too much. On the other hand, if you're used to CBR build quality or Fireblade performance, then maybe go for the VTR?

Tricky one. All the best with either bike!

Think about what you can afford to run and insure.. I would probably go for the VTR but I couldn't afford the insurance so it would be the SV for me.

Firestorms are reputed to be well-built and very reliable. They are also reputed to be very thirsty beasts.

Nice bikes but costly to run - Gp15 insurance, I seem to recall.

"bike" this month has a buyers guide to the firestorm, its good, it would seem they suffer some simmillar poblems to the sv, suspension and all that!

Hope this helps
