Default Rounded Screws

Right, ive manage to round off the head on a couple of alan bolts. With the correct size driver bits of metal just come out.

Ive tried a bigger size alan key but that just rounds it off more. Tried a scrwdriver, same thing.

My next idea would be to epoxy an alan key into the scew but im not even sure if that would work....

Any ideas?

cheers
Dan

Which bolt is it? i.e. how much access do you have?

The two side covers which hide the seat bolts. So its fairly good access, although i dont want to break the plastic bits off.

They should never have been that tight in the first place, they literally only hold the piece of plastic on.

Try an impact driver with hexagon bits, but gently

Or if the hex bits don't work, try a slightly oversized torq bit, give it a few good belts with a hammer and it should cut a new "head" for itself. But this might break your plastics, so it's a last resort.

If it's any consolation, I didn't tighten mine enough and they both fell off on a 10 miles ride...

This could be a common problem, when I bought my bike (used) one of the panels was damage around the hole. Looked as though the preivous owner had to resort to a pair of grips or somthing. I ended up buying a new bolt and panel. IIRC the plastic panels are about £14 from suzuki.

It is really... My brother was there when I noticed, I got off and went "f***, the side panel's fallen off, and went off to find my spare. Then when I got back, "f***, the other one's fallen off too!"

At least it wasn't the wheel or something I forgot to tighten...

Why dont you buy a kit that replaces most of the soft as poo or rubbish bolts that suzuki provide wont cost you much.
