Default Dealer Woes

Name and Shame: Mottingham Motorcycles aka A20 motorcycles.

I bought the bike off them 6months ago...
My idle screw fell out when i adjusted it the other day.

Calls them up, okie, bring it down we can look at it. Great.

Take it there this morning...I could tell by the way they greeted me
something was up...

Okie, bring it out the back we can look...show him where the idle screw
goes etc.
"Oooh thats a big job, were going to have to strip it all down. He
looks shaking his head."

Walks back inside the shop....Okie leave it with us we can do it...Me:
cool, so that will be under warentee then...guy yells to the manager
"Mark, can we do this under warentee?"
Mark (boss): No
Me: why, i bought the bike 6months ago off you.
Mark: So?
Me: its under warentee with you guys, its 6months old
Mark: No, your warentee is with Suzuki.
Me: Right ok, deep breath.
Mark: You havn't bought any accessories or your servicing* off us. It's a
two way street, its how I make money <pause> Do I look like I have c**t
tattooed onto my forehead.
Me: B****cks to this, storms off.

So um, yeh. Nice people
*Quoted 160quid for a 4k service.
Oh and they charged me £20 before to replace a fuse under the display, after it blew because it was a "consumable part"

So you'll be going there again then, yes?

Is this the one at the bottom of Court Road? If so - I remember it when it was a toy shop, had an enormous window with a train set running round the edge, if you put 1d (yes it was that long ago!!) in the slot the train would start. Magic!!

>>My idle screw fell out when i adjusted it the other day. <<

Why should this be fixed under warranty ?

Don't misunderstand me - I'm no supporter of bike dealers, but the warranty applies to faulty parts and/or workmanship.

Their customer service stinks tho'

Isn't warrantee work for the dealer a good thing, don't they get to charge all the costs back to the manufacturer.

Glad you named and shamed them Dan, might be an idea to let them know that it's up on the web and god-knows-how-many SV riders now know not to go there.

Well, lets face it. A) they aint a suzuki dealer B) why on earth did you buy your bike from a non dealer C) What do you expect from a dealer in Mottingham D) he has a point E) You have modified your bike, so its not covered under warranty anyway F) Sorry for the truth, but it hurts.

Start using Premier in West Wickham.
