Just fitted the high-level Carbon Scorpion can and how nice? Very!
![]() Obviously started it up without a can while I was at it, now that's a roar! ![]() So, anyway, back to my paranoia, What about back pressure when running without the baffle (just in case it falls out, obviously). Am I doing any harm running it like this without modifying the fueling? Surely something's not quite right or I wouldn't get those fantastic pops and crackles on the overrun? Please someone put me at ease because I'm never going back to a standard can! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Loads of folks run a can, baffle in or out, without jetting it and have no problems. Just don't mod the filter or fit a K&N. Hell, fit a dynojet and K&N just for the improved throttle response.
Leave the baffle out you know you want to ![]() |

Rode in to work today with the baffle out, the cars parted before me, it was beautiful.

See thread on cheap ART cans---I have an ART can already, bought another one just for spare!!!!
Couldn't drive without a can anymore, just sounds too boring--although there's no hassle with police over here, its not an issue whether its road legal or not. |

I seem to be saying this a lot lately... if you reduce the restriction then the bike will run leaner and hotter, though by how much depends what you've done. And you won't get the full benefit of the less-restrictive can without rejetting.
Generally pops and backfiring on overrun are caused by a leak in the system, mostly at the heads. When you roll on the throttle the pressure in the pipe drops and sucks air in through the leak, ignitied the leftover fuel with a bang. The SV booms and cracks a bit on overrun anyway though, not exactly a stealth bike! |
