need a better helmet-dont we all?????

hi-after splashing out on new svthou-i need a new helmet,as my bombhead £25.00 paddy hopkirk eggshell bonedome wont quite look right so has anyone tried one of these flip front jobs-like caberg?i like agv really-but them flippy jobs are everywhere man

I've got a Caberg Justissimo flip front jobbie, and an Arai Astro-J.

The Caberg a reasonable lid, not too heavy (for a flip front), and the visor is anti-fog as standard. However, after I got the Arai I began to see the Cabergs shortfalls. It's poorly ventilated, and I find it uncomfortable to wear after an hour due to its ear squishing tendancies. I'm using it to commute at the moment however, because of the anti-fog, the shortness of my jouney, and the fact I don't want to cake my Arai in salt if I don't need to!

Would I recomend the Caberg? Depends what kind of riding you do

I've got a Caberg flip front that I use all the time for going to work etc. No probs with it at all. It is a bit tight round the ears but I've found no probs with ventilation etc. I really like it, very handy for petrol stations etc!

Because I wear glasses I use a flip front all the time I have a Caberg and
an EVO4[BMW] the later is well worth the extra £50,lighter much much
better fitting and def more streamlined The one thing I will say about both helmets is,use ear plugs,as both types and in general,flip fronts are noticably noisier than fixed front lids
Advantages are [glasses] and being able to flip up increasing your awareness to surrounding sounds in traffic and not to worried if your visor is dirty as you can flip the front which is much easier than trying to open the visor on a fixed with winter gloves on
For general commuting I think the flip-up has advantages but for fast riding i.e.long motorway work,or track days use a fixed front
Ideal situation is have the lid for the job---------one of each

ive got an AGV flip fronty thing .
to be honest - its horrible, its so heavy and not well fitting either- fine around the head but the strap feels a bit weak and keeps working itself loose.

when its down - the view is pretty restricted and its very very noisy.

on the plus side tho - the visor doesnt steem up much.

mabe other flip helmets are better - but this one has put me off pretty much and its only my "back up helmet" now despite being my most expensive helmet.

btw if your near-by, you can have a proper viewing of my *AGV flip face saftey equipment* if you like

I have a Shoei Syncrotec flip front and I'm well pleased with it. Makes the wearing of glasses possible....!

I've had the Schuberth Concept 1 for a couple of years and it started to loosen a bit so I decided to try the Caberg (here in the states its called the Jarow Mono X2). I like the way the Caberg feels and the flip-up shaded visor is great - I like it better than the one on the Schuberth. The Schuberth is actually better at staying clear in cold conditions and it's just better overall in cold weather. I think the Schuberth is also of better quality... at least it feels that way. The Caberg looks better and the slight yellow tint of the shield improves visibility a bit. The noise level is about the same for the two - wear ear plugs.

I've seen some killer deals on the Schuberth ($200 us) on the internet, but if you think you might like it, you should try one on as their sizes tend to be on the tight side.

I've got a Schuberth Concept 1

excellent lateral vision
easy to keep your specs on
good drop down sun visor
fairly good anti-fog properties - plenty of ventilation

downsides -
quite noisy, so wear earplugs if out of town
quite big/bulky
bit heavier than most, but to be honest I don't notice it
seatbelt fastener rather than D rings - hard to easily tighten it when having a blast


would I buy another - probably
