After a great deal of research, I stumbled upon the SV650S and found that it would nicely fit my budget and thought it would make a great first. As im currently suffering from nerve damage i cant do anything but will be better in time for summer and significatly loaded enough to splash out on a new bike and a couple of extra goodies to go with it. I was just wondering if the experts, ie, you people who own them already, could let me know of any draw backs to them and if there are any items you would really recommend i fit. Im particuly interested in a better exhaust system and maybe if ive got enough some improvements to the suspension. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Welcome.
Suspension upgrade is a fairly cheap mod to do and produces good results. The front springs can be replaced with decent ohlins springs for around £90. The rear shock can be replaced with a better one for even less... although its more work. |

Otherwise there are loads of threads about the pros and cons, what works and what doesn't. I did it following the simple instructions on Weegaz's page and it works. |

Welcome to the site Bash.
There are loads of ideas for mods to the sv. IMHO the best bang for the buck is the get the front fork springs changed. There are various on the market but the most popular seem to be single rate Ohlins or progressive rate spring, from a company called Progressive (a cunning name I'll suer you'll agree) Have a brose through the site using the search facility, you'll fing loads of stuff on here. Keep us all posted on what you decide to do. |

I'd go for a fender extender as an essential first mod.
For under £20, the amount of cleaning it'll save is worth it, but take into account saving the engine/radiator from stones and reducing the chance of carb flooding, it's a bargain. |

Thanks to everyone for your replies,
I had thought about a fender exstender and a nice carbon hugger, as for the suspension mods, i had no idea i could do it in the 100quid bracket, i thought I was gonna be looking at £500+! I better not tell the girlfriend that else she'll have me savings whipped off to the shoe shop in a shot! I am completely bewildered by tyres so if anyone has any suggestions of a good road to go down with these it would be much appreciated, Thanks again BaZ |
