Default SV650s warranty / servicing

Hi,

I'm considering buying a SV650s new. However, where I live there are a no Suzuki dealers. My local bike shop can source one or I can buy one 20+ miles away from a Suzuki dealer (listed on the Suzuki-gb web site), but my question is do I need to have my bike serviced by an authorised Suzuki dealer for my warranty to be valid?
I like my local bike shop - they're friendly and helpful and possibly most importantly, I trust them, so I'd like to give them my business.

thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

I'm sorry, I don't think I was clear in my musings.

I have a local dealer who is a about 2 miles away - they're great. However, they're not a Suzuki main dealer. The Suzuki main dealer is 20+ miles away and has a very poor reputation.
So, I have 2 issues. The first of being able to take my bike to be serviced before work (which is about 40 miles door to door via a very busy M4) for when they open which will be very difficult to get to work for 9ish and obviously trying to pick it up before they close. That issue is the lesser of my problems.
The second is that I'd rather give the work to someone I trust (and from what I've been told, I'm not sure the main dealer would do as good a job) and coincidentally, considerably more converient, but I'm not sure whether that would invalidate my warranrty.

Any thoughts appreciated.

As far as servicing is concerned, it's not legal for it to invalidate your warranty, so long as you can show that it was serviced by a competent person according to the directions in the manual.
The upshot of this being that any garage can do it and Suzuki can't do a thing about it.
Warranty work would still have to be done at a main dealer, but other than that, you should be fine.
