Default Cold Starting

Hi folks

Does anybody else have a problem with the bike only firing on one cylinder when starting from cold. Ihave just serviced my bike (new oil&filter, spark plugs, valve clearance and coolant and brake fluid), the only thing it needs checking is the carb sychcronisation.
It did this problem before the service which I thought would cure it.
After about 10 secs on choke the other cylinder fires up.

Any Ideas. How can i tell which cylinder it is that is not firing properly.

Strange another guy was saying this was happening. Take the plugs off and stick a multimeter up it. If you're getting output then its a dodgy connection between plug coil and top of spark (rusted?).

Easy way to check which cylinder is firing up first is to do a cold start, but stop it again before the 2nd cyl chimes in. Then see which exhaust pipe is warm/hot (don't just get hold of it! )

It could be a blocked fuel passage on the choke circuit of one carb, or even more basic it could be a broken cable to one choke.

From what you say it sounds as though the ignition side is OK, the fact that it runs on 2cyls once it's going, and your servicing hasn't affected the problem.

Motoring for 10sec or so will warm the cylinder enough for it to run without choke anyway.

Does it idle properly once warm? I'm just wondering whether one of the idle fuel circuits could be blocked?

Will try the exhaust heat tomorrow.

It runs sweet once both cylinders are running and will start perfect from warm. I dont think its a fueling problem as this would be experienced at all stages and temperatures.

The bike is kept outside - under cover - and hasnt had a proper run since before christmas.

I think the next port of call is new plug leads, if this doesnt work then im lost. It is not coils, rectifier, or ignition because it runs perfect when warm.

Its not a major drama, just wanted to check if it one of sv's niggles.

Thanks for the replies.
