Default Should riding in the wet be an optional extra???????????????

Just a thought here, i've just had my front cylinder dried out and the plugs replaced under warranty!! And i was told to fit a fender extender, should this be up to me (or you) to pay extra so we can use our bikes in the wet? I don't know where we stand here or if anyone else has had a similar thought before, but, as an organisation could we make a stand about this rather than stumping up our own cash to fix a design fault??

Default Front mudguards

I dont understand why Suzuki and every other maker cant fit decent length front mudguards to begin with. The ludicrous short efforts we get now result in bike splattered in shte even if it does keep firing on all cylinders

Although this is a common problem (why on earth the plug needs to be replaced is beyond me) it's been established that the rubber boot on the front plug often isn't fitted correctly and therefore doesn't provide a perfect seal. Careful inspection and refitting should cure this, though Rictus put on a rubber boot from a CB750 which is larger and he thought it was a big improvement over the standard kit.

Have you ever seen the plug seal on a 650 Raptor? Much better than ours... Though I suppose the downside is that if you ever need another one you have to wait 6 months while an Italian peasant chisels one out of a block of solid rubber and then sends it to you by pigeon...

I was quite convinced by the grease logic... That Suzuki don't grease it in the factory as it'd be a dust trap while in transit, but that the dealers either forget or were never told to grease it as part of the presale setup. Considering how well a spot of grease fixes it, it seems plausible.

I do find it seriusly annoying that so many bikes come with rubbish mudguards. The clue's in the name- mud! guard!- but so often there's more on top than there is down the back. The SV's worse than most because of the exposed plug, mind, but so many bikes might as well not have a mudguard.

in my experience with aprillia its nearer 9 months, you forgot about the extra 3 months required to train the pigeon to fly on the left in the uk !!!

Hi, about to take delivery of my SV650s in 4 weeks, would having the lower fairings fix this problem, or do you need the fender extender?

Have I just been really lucky with that part of my SV?

I've been nearly drowned on the bike repeatedly with heavy rain, and lots of standing standing water and spray and it's not missed a beat. The only thing is I've seen hours of hard work getting the exhaust from brown to shiny metal go down the drain...

there's no guarantee you'll even get the problem. Like MavUK, I've been out in conditions where you have to talk about the wave height and not a problem at all.

I never got it until recently, despite such highlights as riding across a couple of rivers... I didn't feel like I'd really arrived as an SV rider till it had happened though
