Hi ,
was riding back from work today when a fellow biker pulled up beside me and told me I had a nail in my back wheel. Dont know how the guy saw it , must have had the most amazing eye sight but he was correct, right in the middle of the tyre I have what looks like a small stud , the end of a nail or screw which has gone right in . Which I guess leads me to the worrying issue of exactly how long have I been riding around with this in . Anyone got any advice on what to do - needless to say I rode home very slowly but am not sure what to do now. The tyres are the ones you get with a K4 and have done about 2000k, I was thinking of getting new tyres in Summer but is it safe to ride around like this? Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks. |

I would ditch the god-awful Dunlops any way and get anything else! (you can't get much worse!!) Otherwise, if you take the tyre to a bike tyre dealer, they may be able to remove & repair the tyre. It does depend however, on exactly where the nail is on the tyre! HTH |

I ditched them aftr just over 2000 miles and it was quite possibly the best 'mod' I ever made to my bike!! The Dunlops just wouldn't turn very fast and weren't very good at all in damp conditions. They weren't so bad in bone-dry, warm conditions or in the absolute ****ing-wet but it's rare to get either of those conditions for long in the UK!! Several times I nearly ended up under a lorry coming in the opposite direction cos I couldn't turn in fast enough after overtaking! Never had that problem after I went over to Bridgestones I still maintain in a lot of cases it's all in the head (not a bad thing as such as if it makes you feel/ride better then go for it). If he is not having any problems as such with the dunlop he might possibly do, now you have told him how crap they are. I am a Bridgestone man myself. I run BT45s' on my bros. I could get cheaper tyres but I just don't like the feel of the other tyres I have tried so pay the extra for the 45s'. They other makes just make me a lot slower than I already am ![]() Cheers Ben |

But I didn't know any better at the time!!
I bought the bike new and it was my first bike... I got worried about the tyres even before I read about them in comparison to other tyres. As soon as I changed them for Bridgestones, I didn't have the problem! Looking back on it with more experience, I now realise they probably weren't as bad as I thought at the time - they just didn't provide as much feedback as other tyres and were definitely not as good. Cloggsy - I moved to BT010s front & rear and then to an 020 at the rear when the 010 wore out! The front was a funny shape and due a change when I had my 'off!' ![]() |

happened to me twice now.
both been plugged tho ![]() getting new tyres very soon gonna go for BT010 front and a BT020 rear. |
