I realised yesterday that the way I'd gone about calculating the static sag for my forks was wrong! I had about 10mm more sag than I should have! I added a stack of washers last night and got it right. What a difference it's made. Paradoxically (it's not really), having stiffened the springs, the ride is now softer. Bumps are soaked up much better and the feeling that the bars are going to get ripped out of my hands has been vastly reduced. A test ride this afternoon quickly showed some real hooligan hustling round the B-roads hereabouts is on the cards.

Good, eh? So much gain for so little as well. Took me and Jimmy about 2 hours total to do his, that's him with a knackered arm and me on crutches
![]() Some folks fixate on tuning for power, but I reckon simple suspension and braking upgrades on the SV will get you around most tracks quicker than a fortune in engine modifications...

Agreed, I've went back to the standard SV but with uprated brake pads and suspension and I'm happy. Until I see a cheap TMAX

I couldn't agree more. I have just changed to a gsxr shock and 0.9kg maxton springs with 15wt oil and the difference is unbeliveable.Compared to the the mods i have made on my bike these have made the biggest difference. Corner carving heaven this summer

Can't speak for the maxtons but the Ohlins for mine were £60 IIRC, a litre of fork oil set me back £6.99.
