Default Front end help.

Can anyone help. My brothers 2001 SVs has a tendancy to pull to the left. If you let go of the bars if leans to the left as if you are counter steering. He's never noticed it untill i pointed it out to him today after having a quick go around the block. Also the bars seem to be slightly out of line (turned right) when going straight and it seems really keen on turning to the right when doing slow speed manouveres (sp?). I had a quick look around for him and couldn't see anything catching but we didn't have time to strip it and have a proper look. I've said i'd have look at it for him this week and was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on where to start looking and what to check.
Thanks in advance for any tips.

You sure it ain't be in a prang or dropped?

Are the bars themselves bent? Sounds like you have a faired version. Make sure the clipons are positioned correctly. They are mounted with a pinch bolt and a bolt into the bottom of the top yolk. They can still be a few degrees out though.

Back wheel not square in the swingarm. Don't rely on the markers. Get the wheel alignment checked.

Forks could be twisted in the yokes. Loosen the pinch bolts on the lower yoke and bounce the forks a bit. Then nip the pinch bolts back up.

Some ideas:

1. Check rear wheel alignment.
2. Loosen fork lower clamps and wheel spindle/clamps, bounce it up and down vigourously and torque it all up again.

Edit: Scoobs got there first!

First things first check for any crash damage?, then make sure the rear wheel is running true its amazing how much difference that can make, then get the bike up on paddock stands and rotate the wheel and make sure the discs are not warped. Apart from that take it to a garage and have it looked at after all there is only one of you its never worth taking the risk if it dont feel right.
