Default Lost key

Looking for ideas.

When I bought the bike there was only one key and I foolishly didnt get another cut. I had a party a while back and someone found my key on the floor, in a drunken stupor thought it was theirs. Although I know who this person is i'm having great difficulty in contacting him as the number I was given just goes straight to answer service.

SO, I was thinking that I could possibly get a new key from Suzuki.

Does anyone know if this is possible? or what I would need to get it?

I've spoken to one of the dealers up here and they suggested removing the ignition switch and sending it away to have a new key made which seem like a bit of a pain to me.

Any other ideas?

take the barrel off and there should be a number stamped on it that is the key number! you should be able to get a key cut from this

Ah ha, job for the weekend.

Thanks a lot.

Is a pain cos I've just moved house and the bike is sitting outside my old house until I find a key.

Is the ignition barrel easy to remove? Especially with the steering lock on.

forget dealers,

go to a good locksmith, (with the bike)

they should be able to take mesurements from inside the barrel and cut you a key from them. they may require proof that the veichle is yours tho.

alot cheaper than the dealer option me thinks .

Trouble with that plan is actually getting the bike to the locksmith. Getting a trailer and people to help me pick up the bike (steering lock) would end up more of a pain I think.

I've been recemmended a company who isn't a dealer but can get keys from the key number. Just have to get the ignition barrel out.

Have you seriously any idea what the cost is? It's so outrageous most people wouldn't believe it.

If you have the manual the key's serial number should be in here, usually as a label. Suzuki can use this to make you a new key. Think it's about £12ish.
