Default bike dead (electrically)

Just went out to my bike to go to the gym and put the key in and turned it. Nothing at all.

Only thing I can think of is I left the parking lights on this morning when I got to work.

A colleague has a 125 and he'll be in at 4. I guess I can try to jump it off of that. Failing that it will have to be a car.

Any other advice or ideas?

Will it not bump start cos it's a bit annoying to have to wait till 4? If you can get it going that way you'll probably be OK. If not you've got a long wait

Check the obvious first; the main fuse.

If you left the park light on the battery should last a good few hours if it's reasonably charged, how long might it have been on?

Is there any life in, say, the neutral light? Make sure the lights are switched off to see if there is, if even the slightest glow then suspect the battery first, if not then the fuses.

Doesn't it blow the fuses if you jump start it off a car?

There isn't a glimmer from anything at all. Totally dead. If I left the parking light on then it would have been about 6 hours since I was last out.

Are the fuses in beside the battery?

I've heard it can be done if you have the car turned off. I'll get a small engined car too.

I don't blame you - I've always hated doing them too.

Sorry, I don't know what else to suggest. I hope you get it sorted!

Jump starting from a car should be OK - it's all 12v
Doesn't sound like a knackered battery though - there should be a small glimmer of light.
If the lights show no sign of life then I'd guess the fuse, or that one of the battery cables had become loose/unattached/cut

In my experience if the battery is completely flat (won't even light up the warning lamps), chances are you won't be able to bump (i.e. push) start it. You'll need to get it turning fast enough for the generator to provide enough output to run the ignition while it's also trying to charge a flat battery, very difficult.

Starting with jump leads from a car should be perfectly OK. Make absolutely sure you connect pos to pos, neg to neg, and maybe leave the jump leads on for a minute or 2 for the flat battery to take at least a small amount of charge before trying to start it.
