1st gear nightmare - SV650.org

Finally nearly finished rebuilding my bike after being knocked off. Have just re-built the gear pedal/lever,sat on clicked through the gears from neutral and down again only it wont go down past neutral into first?????

Not a clue why??

Anybody had experience with this or know of a remedy, the concept of starting off in second all the time is not appealing at all.

Have you tried holding the lever down - to go into first, and slowly letting out the clutch? You should hear a "click", and feel the bike slip into first gear.

Assuming your engine is running.

Or have you done what I did one and put the rod and linkage on upside down... you sure you've gone up five...???

done it, rod upside down and engine not running!

SHE's ALIVE, just gotta sort the MOT and tax

Hopefully soon i'll be down soho to put faces to all the names
