Default SV dilemma!...Sorry very long winded!

Having never sold any vehicle privately here in Spain I was at first at a bit of a loss what to do. Things started falling in to place though and found that www.motos.net is a great free portal to sell a bike. Mine had been on there just over 2 weeks and it has been viewed over 600 times!
Traffic to the advert went ballistic in the immediate aftermath to Jerez as all the Spanish guys start hiding the ski's and looking for some real sunshine fun!
I had been hanging in for one of the first guys to call me. Felt sorry for him as the day after seing the ad he went in for an operation.During his recovery he has been trying to organise a bank loan.Problem is he is "autonomo" i.e self employed and Spanish banks are the most coservative in the world!
Was due to ride to Malaga to show a guy it tonight who had been waiting for his pal a mechanic to be available. From sunday I have had a guy from Madrid trying to blow the Malaga guy out to give him time to get down here!
But yesterday morning a lovely guy called Pepe called from Granada asking if he could come and see right that very evening! How could I refuse such urgency? First potential buyer to visit anyway.
Pepe arrived with two friends and we chatted as we walked to my house from the agreed meeting point. he has two Boxer dogs....we have one? Common ground?
I took them down in the lift to the garage and put the lights on. I slowly uncovered the bike and there was a strange almost tangible silence for about 5 seconds! Pepe was in no rush to hear the motor run he just wanted to get across to the Gestor office,(sort of accountant that you use to organise the change of owner paperwork which is costing me €325 to do! Cant beat the UK and it's fill in the bottom bit and send to DVLC) Well I fired her up and his face was a picture! The Carbon Can exhaust played it's sweet music for him! He was hooked...he couldn't help himself! I showed him all around the bike, where the tool kit is and the tank rod etc. He has owned many bikes over the years and unfortunately bought a few "bad uns" but he aid to me that he knew I was sincere by what I was telling him in emails! He could see that the bike has been pampered and cherished.
Well we got the paperwork done and then I ran Pepe back to the car park where his bike gear was and I have to say I was saddened! It has been a relatively short relationship but the SV has got me into biking after a 5 year break and she has looked after me well!
This forum with it's many characters has also been a massive help in getting me back into biking and really reigniting the bug. Believe me I have looked at many, many sites and no other in all honestly comes close.
I told Pepe that I felt sure that he is likely to have far less trouble with his new bike than I will have with the one I am going for! he recognised where I was coming from.

I do not think that you can beat an SV for all out value for money. A bit of a Jack of all trades rather than a specialist bike.Does so many things so well. Greater proof of this came to me after and during the trip to Jerez. We all have a soft spot for some bike we have had in the past and I have had many. I would have to put the SV right up there with my ZX6R Ninja which I just thought was a phenomenal piece of kit! That is how highly I rate it.
Pepe sent me an email to advise me that he got home safely last night and that he thinks the bike is absolutely brilliant and he thanked me for it! how good is that when he has just coughed a fair old wedge for the privilege?

Well wednesday night I am going by train to Valencia. I have agreed a price on something that is not big nor clever. It's practical elements are somewhat limited also.It definitely will not justify the outlay over and above an SV.But unles the pictures I have been sent of it are fake and the bike is actually a card board cut out I am going to be riding it all the way back down here! A great route has been plotted which more or less strike a 30º line across from Valencia to Marbella....and the sun is shining!

At least I am staying with a Vee twin guys and gals....the bike is a drop dead gorgeous 12 month old red 749S with just 2000km on the clock! At a price that sees me able to fit the Termignoni bass orchestra and then some over the price of a brand new one!

If only I could figure how to post a piccie of her!

Nice story

Sounds like Pepe is going to have to expect you round asking for visitation rights before long.

Good look with the Ducati.

Buenos Pete

Glad your sale went so well to someone who likes it so much. i was reading a review of the 749Dark the other nite in some mag or another but either way it sounds like a great bike from the review.

Now you're just showing off now ain't you ??

Living in Spain with nothing to do all day but ride your 749 ??? Just remember if you ever bring it back over here you'll be stuffed as it's a left hand drive model

Have fun mate, they're a fantastic machine. It's the only vee twin that revs like a 4 pot... And the sound of that Terg system will be ace....

Bastuard !

Congratulations. At least you live in a country with Ducati-friendly weather, unlike the UK.
