Default Why are SV calipers floating not fixed?

Just wandering why the SV calipers are floating style not fixed like many other bikes?

I think the calipers must have opposed pistons before they can be fixed. The SV's calipers only have pistons one side. Thank about what happens when pads wear. On the piston side, the pistons simply move out. Other side, no pistons - so the caliper has to move to keep the fixed pad in contact with the disk.

I am going to give you the benifit of doubt and assume you already knew that the sv had floating calipers and exactly what they are.

so the real answer is that they are cheaper to manufacture than fixed calipers with opposing pistons. simple as that cost

As tim said, SV's are built to a cost, not a quality.

Hence the 2 pot calipers, 4 pots would have been nice, but i feel they do ok with braided lines after the initial ones get a bit spongy.

That along with the amount of engine braking, i suppose you could take the effect of engine braking to be the same as having four pots on a four cylinder engine?

Or am i bieng very optimistic in that assumption? Iv never ridden a bike with 4 pot calipers
