Default UltraSeal

Anyone have any experience of this ?

http://www.ultrasealuk.biz

Apparently it will seal any small hole in a tyre or allow the tyre to deflate slowly and safley if the tyre carcass is damaged beyind repair.

They claim it improves wear as well.

We've had multi-page in-depth discussions about this in the past and it's a controversial subject. I'm personally not convinced one way or the other.

I used to use similar stuff in my 125, Slime. It worked a treat for stopping punctures.

I'd guess it would do the trick for punctures, not so sure about their claims about it increasing wear mind...

Dan.

Default tyre sealant

Used this in my last two machines due to loads of building work in my area (screws, nails, sharp stones, glass .....). Had a few objects in the tyres, removed them and not even lost 1 psi of pressure. I'd recommend it, but don't be complacent. Still check your tyres on a regular basis.

I'd like to ammend my previous post. Got a screw in me tyre day before yesterday. Removed it as I've done with several others. Tyre completely deflated and spewed pink crap all over the place! Eventually managed to re-inflate and am keeping a close eye on tyre pressure. Lost 10psi first day, lost 8psi yesterday, haven't checked today. Hmmmmm.

I think a screw in your tyre qualifies as fairly major. I wouldn't take it as proving that ultraseal is no good. The thing I'd worry about is that it now might not be as good as a proper bung, and even those are supposed to be quite weak.

It was only a small screw (fnarr fnarr!), about 3mm diameter. Seems fine today!

I've had ultraseal pumped into my tyres on several occasions, as a "Just in case" measure.

I wouldn't want to use it as a permanent puncture repair, if I did notice something sticking out of the tyre then I would get it properly repaired (or replaced), but it does give me piece of mind that in the event of a nail going through then the tyre should still be rideable.

For the little that I paid to have it put in I think it's worth it.
