Default Speeding cut-off limits for fines

Are there a standard set of limits for speeding, as to whether you'll just get 3 points and £60 fine or something more?

I know there are lots of theories and so on, but what about the actual guidelines set down (assuming there are any!?)

Is there some sort of extra penalty once you get caught going over 25mph above the limit? (or is there something set at 50% over the limit?)

Is it true about the "go straight to jail" thing if they get you doing over 150mph?

Don't take this as law but i'm sure 30mph over is a ban . Can't remember who told me that though.

I'm always wary of hard and fast rules. Example is I was stopped doing 102 on a dual cabbageway. Thought I was up for a court trip and a ban for sure. Pleaded guilty by post, result came back 6 points and a £300 fine ... so you never can tell.

Usually though, yes 30mph over is a ban.

i think that its actually 30mph over go to court, over 100mph anywhere is supposed to be a court appearance and a ban though.

Default Cut off levels

I`ve been stopped by the nice men in blue ( well some of them can be - lol ) and was doing 94 on the M6 - PC hlepfull told me that the county policy was 30 mph over = ban and 25 mph over was court date - but 24 and over was ok to be treated with fixed penalty.

Dont know how true this is but he soudned pretty sure of himself....

From experience....doing double the limit is a ban and doing over a ton is an automatic ban

My chav ex used to swear by never doing more than 100mph in her car to avoid getting tugged by the police. Quite important since she ran it on "red" diesel and had no tax...

Oh yes... won't even go into some of the other driving-related stuff she got up to. Now you mention it, she wouldn't have had insurance at all - car was permanently halfway through being sold and registered so was off the radar ran into the police a few times but single female driver and all, worst she ever got was a police escort back home

Been pulled for 80+ in 30 and bollocked.

Been waved goodbye by motorway patrol after doing 130.

Never had a point in the 27 years I have had a licence

Me and by big mouth I am sure to get some now.
