After our ride on Sunday, I parked the bike outside my house for a couple of hours and when I went to go out on it again it started but wouldn't rev above 2k rpm when on the stand and cut out when stood upright.
![]() I have checked and it's not low on fuel or oil. I have since got it started tonight by leaving the choke fully open and letting it get warm then gently increasing the revs. It made a lot of cracking and spluttering noises from the exhaust but eventually seemed to rev ok but now sounds more like a diesel engine! It had its 12,000 mile service 4 weeks and 150 miles ago by Bridge Street Motors in Witham (so should have been done properly!) Does anyone have any ideas before I take it back to them? |

bonesy check and see if you have left your baffle out if so make sure no gits have stuffed something down your exhaust recommend using a long piece of wire till you touch the bottom of the can also check your plugs make sure there isnt any dirt trapped

John Daft question but make sure your oil and water levels are ok also check plug leads and the not reving sounds like running on one pot
Mine sounded like that when a coil gave up the ghost Alan is very fair so if you have a word I'm sure he will sort it out |

You can all stop panicking now!
It seems poor quality petrol was to blame. (The tankful from Morrisons in Maldon). Anyway, it seems to be running ok again so I can only blame my crap riding for it sounding rough! ![]() |

I filled up twice from there with no problems. Perhaps you were so low you sucked up some cr*p from the bottom of the tank?

I did think of that, and although the symptoms would suggest a blockage restricting the fuel, when I filled up the low fuel warning light hadn't come on, so I don't think I could have been low enough to suck some cr*p from the tank.
However, it seems to have cleared, so it probably was! ![]() |
