Default speeding trouble

hi there,

was speeding yesterday night, empty road, but as i pulled up to the lights, it turned out the police were behind me, but by some distance. they didn't pull me over or talk to me, but i am still concerned. does anybody know if it is possible that i have been done without them giving me a verbal NIP? i'm not too sure how far behind me they were, but the pillion told me he had got off the bike and got his helmet off by the time they arrived. i think i already know what the answer is, but i could really do without three points, and i had to check. thanks a lot guys and girls.

As far as I know, they can still prosecute, but I wouldn't have thought they would bother if they didn't pull you over at the time.

Technically yes it is possible but bery improbable.

The police could send you an NIP through the post in the next 14 days but most policemen know that they could not sleep if they had made the decision to do that and you wrapped yourself around a lamp post when they could have had a "training" word with you.

Take it as what it is, a silent lesson.

I'm with Patch on this; they had the opporunity to caution you/give you a verbal NIP and give a ticking off/safety talk at the same time.

Also, it wouldn't look good if they were asked in Court why they didn't Caution you at the time of the incident given that both you and they stopped. The coppers know this.

cheers guys. i was thinking the same. im not too sure whether they even saw me, but you know what its like being on the "six points and your out" scheme. i've had a couple of close calls like that, and, for me, its probably better than being stopped as i'm getting to be a much more sensible rider. especially since my k4 has gone to hospital. cheers for helping me out!

They have 14 days in which to issue you with a written NIP, if this doesnt arrive, they cant do you for it.

So in 2 weeks, if nothings through, you're home free. And if they DO try and prosecute after that time, get a solicitor, and the case will be thrown out on technicalities.
