Default Slightly sick bike...

My SVS K3 has been stood outside my house for about 5 weeks unused. Its been under one of the thicker oxford covers. I went to start it the other day and whilst it fired up ok it seems to drop back on to one cylinder at low revs. I turned the idle up and it seemed happier idling away at 2k and both cylinders were running but every now and then it seemed to cough and drop back down onto one cylinder. I then ran out of time so squirted a load of wd40 magic spray around the front cylinder and i'm going to give it a try when i get home.

It just seems strange that leaving it stood for a while would cause this, it had been ridden all winter and was fine.

Quite simply is it just a case of running it to dry out the area round the front plug, is the front plug relatively easy to change, when i was looking it seemed a pig to get to and i only have very limited tools where i live at the moment. Also does riding it on one cylinder do it any harm (may have to ride to garage)

Cheers

Sounds a bit like it needs a service.Things like throttle cable free play, carb balence, how old are the plugs, and the old chestnut, how old is the fuel and is there any crap or water in it?

Well its up in the 6500 mile mark so its due the second one. The plugs have been in there since new (i bought it as an ex demo from george white with 4k miles on).

The fuel is about 5 - 6 weeks old so it should be ok shouldn't it? Its been desnorkled and has a scorpion can on it, would that make any difference?

The thing that confuses me somewhat is that when i start it up from cold its fine, ticks over ok and runs perfectly etc. Its when the engine has warmed up that it starts dropping down on to one cylinder at low revs ie below 2000.

I had a look yesterday and couldn't find an online manual on here so i could have a look about changing the plugs, sure there used to be one here?

I suppose it's possible there's some dirt got into the fuel system somewhere so while it has cold enrichment (equivalent of choke) it's sufficient, but leans off too much when it warms up. I'd guess this is unlikely.

It might be worth trying some injector cleaner in the fuel (available from car accessory places).

I have come across a case where a plug would run cold but not hot (not in an SV, but still relevant). I recall someone on here having this too, so that would be my first stab.

Could be other things electrical/electronic which are OK cold but break down hot, but not that likely.
