Default I think my bike will be written off

I went to the garage where my bike is at the mo to speak to them about what it needs to be repaired.

Unfortunately due to 2 VERY small marks on the frame they think it will need replaced. I really do mean that they are small marks as the paint is not even broken Also the swingarm has a few scuffs on it and will need replaced. here is a brief list of parts required:

Frame
Swingarm
Top fairing
Screen
Clock surround
L/H Mirror (complete)
L/H Bar end
L/H Bar grip
L/H Switch gear (complete)
L/H Footpeg/gear lever assy
L/H tail/side panel
Grab rail
tail light
both L/H indicators
+ Labour

They said that depending on which assessor views the bike will depend on whether he writes it off or not If he says that the frame will be OK then it MIGHT be repairable. Total cost for repairs as it stands is 4K but obviously this will come down drastically on the frame decision.

I agree, in terms of damge, even without the frame it would be a write off.

really? thought Moriarty's had as much damage without the frame and they repaired that rather than write it off... remember him posting the estimate which was well over a grand...

but if frame is damaged I would say that its more than likely going to be a cat A or B write off.

but Dan's was also a write off with relatively small amounts of damage.
It's a bit unpredicatable, I suppose, I'm just inclined to think that it will be.

I just had the assessor on the phone to discuss my bike. In his opinion, even without the new frame, it is a total loss He did however comment on the good condition it was in pre accident and that he would be advising the insurers that he has valued it at full book price

Will let you all know what happens when I hear from them.

I hope you get a good price for it. A mate with an SV1000 was told the same thing, then the guy put in a low price to his insurers

I never even got to chat to the guy looking at my bike, yet he's put in a spectacularly low figure too... they sure don't like paying out proper money when it comes to claim time...

You have my sympathy. Be interesting to know how it goes with your claim. What was the accident background - was there a third party/ are you claiming off of ERS on your own policy/ comp or 3pft, etc.

It was only me that was involved so will be claiming from ERS. I bet my next policy will go up a fair bit
