Default Current SV650SK5

Just a note to anyone looking at getting a K5 Suzuki dont expect their stocks to last any longer than the end of August into Mid September.

They havent ordered anymore from Japan, pending a possible new or updated model arriving..i dont have any specs am afraid.

So dont expect many to be around come end of the year like they always have been...suzuki seem to be changing when they change models..

Hi I am a potential SV buyer. Well actually I am almost definitely going to buy one. I have been riding for 11 years on and off now and live in East Bristol. I have literally just sold my Bandit 600 today and was planning on buying a brand new SV650S K5 on Monday.

Then I stumbled upon this club and this thread...

First question is what's all this talk about a new model? Has anymore been heard? When might it appear and is it worth buying an SV650S K5 now?

I had spoken to Fowlers who said they would sell me a new one OTR for £4200. That was paying cash only, they wouldn't do that if I had a PX hence the Bandit has gone. Is that a good or bad deal? I was going to ring around some other dealers Monday and see. Could I get a better deal elsewhere and should I be pushing for a better deal if a new model is on the horizon?

Could I look at asking for some extras thrown in for that price? I.e. how much is the full fairing kit as thats one I would definitely like?

Hi Toypop welcome.

Personally I'd go for a pre-reg K4 and bag a good saving - I picked up my K4 in March for £3700 new (cash). The differences between the K4 and K5 are minor and as you're in a position to pay cash then saving 500 quid on the bike means you can put that money to buying things like lowers, a tail tidy, crash bungs, and a new exhaust.

At the end of the day they're going to sell for pretty much the same money anyway - buying a brand new model at nearly full price just lines you up for a big depreciation hit.

welcome
thats a good price i paid £4300 but got a discount on extras and free fitting so may be worth asking, and as for a new model if there is going to be one you probably would'nt get one till about march/april time next year so i would'nt worry about it, i did'nt
if thats what you want go for it

I am surprised that £4200 would be considered a good price as Fowlers are known for being a rip-off and I simply sent them an email asking for their best price and they replied with that amount without me having to argue.

I will ask them how much it would cost for a lower fairing kit and that piece which goes in place of the pillion seat - sorry but what is the correct name for that part so I can sound like I know what I am talking about?

Also I fear they may try to recover the discount on the bike by over charging for the additional body work so what should I expect to pay?

I don't think they have any K4's as I mentioned in my email that they were selling them for £3900 a few weeks back but they didn't bring it up in their reply.

Don't shop there if you're fearing rip off. Travel a bit

The only other dealer near me is in Chippenham so I will give them a ring tomorrow morning.

Isn't it a pain to keep the wheels looking nice on a K4 as any dirt shows up and its hard to clean the spokes near the centre of the wheel? £3700 is a good saving if I can find it and I would in that case consider buying the lower fairings.

Has anyone else achieved a cheaper deal than £4200 on a K5? I am a member of a car forum and people there are always keen to brag about how much they have saved over list!

Did you do that 600 mile service yourself or take it back to the dealer? Inclined to do it myself, how much did they charge? I know most of the dealers in Bristol wouldn't touch the bike, they would sit around for ten mins, have a fag and a cup of coffee and say "there you go sir we changed the oil and filter, that will be £200". Think I'd want to know for sure it had been done but no doubt not getting the stamp would invalidate the warranty.
