I think i decifered that right, were you referring to Brands Hatch? Doesnt really appeal that much.

I reckon i'll be alright just as long as the surface is smooth, I wasnt planning on caining it around there. (Though i have been practicing on PS2)

Whats the lowdown on turning up & riding?

dunno about tuning & stuff i turned up on the back of a pan euro & was given a fully race ready r1 got on it went around a couple of times then hammered it around once i got the lines & positoning right(i say hammared but i was going slow compared to othered ) . it was fun but as i said it is dodgy at points one fella broke his leg when he came of & hit the barrier

the ps2 will not prepare you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A mate and I are planning on backpacking through Europe in December to March. We are planning to get to the ring for some laps in a hire car Bit cold for bikes in those months I hear, plus were not bringing leathers and helmets.

The Nurburgring website has info on opening times and costs

http://www.nuerburgring.de

Its 15 euro per lap, or 60 euro for 5 laps.

I've been practising on PS2 as well

No but I want to.

I think you just turn up buy a ticket for a few Euros and then queue up and off you go.

Just watch out for Ring Specialists / Nutters...

I'm not bothered about riding it quickly its just something I've always wanted to do

I'd also like to ride as much of the old Spa Circuit to the bits that use the public roads

Not ridden it but i've been there.

We spent 2 days riding there through france, belgium and germany.. got to the ring and there was a 24 hour touring car race on so we couldnt ride round it, but it was an experience none the less!

YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO RIDE THE A258 FROM Schlieden to "the ring", its the most amazing road ive seen. Read my post entiteled "TOURING EUROPE - PICTURES" for my adventure notes...

Have fun.. wish i was out there again.

Not ridden it, but I have driven it in a Porsche 928 - only did one lap tho as it was my mates car and I was grateful enough that he had let me have a go! Nothing will prepare you for how steep the climbs and drops are, the steepness of the carousel is also jaw dropping (I drove round the outside of it! ) and the blind crests just keep on coming! Also, about half way round you will start to wonder if it will ever end!!

Well worth it IMHO and one I will taking the bike to soon as I have a friend who lives in Koln
