Default Been Ninja'd.....

Did the deal on Thursday, traded my k3 svs for a rather lovely J2 ZX6R Ninja

Now, I'm not about to slag off how crap the Sv is compared to an il4 becuase they are completely different bikes for different purposes..but...if you haven't ridden one yet go do it this weekend!!

power delivery is silky smooth, up to about 7k doesn't feel that much different from the SV, but 7 to ten k feels crazy, you want to change gear cos the engine's screaming, then you realise you've got another 4k to go before the redline and that 4k is the bad boy!!! OHMG!!!!! welcome to warp speed brakes are amazing, six pot calipers bring you back down smoothly and quickly and feel really firm. Suspension feels a lot more planted as well, the bike felt like it didn't want to dive as much as the SV did. Getting used to no engine braking is weird, i find i'm using the brakes a lot more, but the missus prefers it as she finds it easier to stay in one position on the pillion rather than fighting the braking.

There's only one real problem, I mainly use my bike for central london commuting and a bit of fun at the weekend, the SV did it all with pefect manners, happy at 20mph and happy at 100mph(on private road )

The Ninja feels angry and impatient, as soon as you start twisting the throttle, it wants you to twist it some more.....

There may be trouble ahead.......

Seriously though, i loved my SV, was great, did exactly what it said on the tin etc

But go try an il4, BIG grin factor fun.....

p.s. just as a side note, i don't feel I was anywhere near getting to the limits of my SV and have a huge amount to learn about riding, but have agreed to give up in a couple of years when the missus pops the first sprog so wanted to get out there and try everything

Mmm - my feelings exactly - can't quite describe the difference but there's a lot of fun to be had from an IL4. All the "negatives" I can think of (lots of noise, higher costs, tempting to go faster because it's so stable, easier to get either end in the air...) are just as easy to see as positive things. And they all put a huge grin on my face thinking of them.

Less "practical" than the SV for commuting I know... but then when it's that much fun practicality isn't the point I'm seriously torn between getting another SV or a sports 600 right now... the SV is great and is also better up to most legal speeds for accelaration than a sports 600... but it's more fun getting there on a sports 600 than on the SV...

The head says SV, the heart... doesn't quite know what to do...

Go down 1 tooth on the front sprocket, it will give you more access to the useable power, and it's even more fun too

And welcome to the dark side......

Excellent choice of bike.

Totally agree about how much fun IL4s can be

How many teeth can you reasonably go down on the front before you'd start getting problems? Just the one?

I hate the colour of the dble screen, have ordered a black one for it.

J2 is up to end 2001 before they came out as 636

That's gorgeous!

I loved my old SV - pointy yellow... not many lairy yellow bikes about but that's the nicest one I've ever seen... didn't know Kawasaki (or anyone else) even did sports 600s in yellow... is it original paint??

You lucky, lucky man

I think you'll find that red bikes are superior in both speed and looks. I used to think that of black ones, but I have now seen the light (infra red, of course!).

Nice bike BTW, that design & colour reminds be of a sun burst....

Ther'e so many quacks on this site I'll end up throwing bread at my screen soon
