Default Any chance of this working?

Got back to my bike yesterday and found a parking ticket tucked under the screen from Westminster council. £50

Now they are technically in the right. I was parked just outside the parking bay (which was full) and touching a yellow line - late for work so I couldn't leave it anywhere else. However, it was in nobody's way and I'm a bit p**sed off, especially after passing god knows how many WV men parked on red routes on the way home.

Thing is, I'd picked it up from service that morning and had a new chain / sprocket fitted. What do you reckon my chances are if I write a nice letter claiming I'd left it there because the chain broke, was waiting for a recovery truck, and include a copy of the service recipt as 'evidence'

I don't reckon it will work at all.
At best they'll say, oh well, pay up.

Always challenge a parking ticket as they may let you off. It will only cost you the price of a stamp.

give it a go you nothing to lose, write a grovelling letter saying that you agree with the parkingrestrictions and that youre a law abiding bod and that and hit them with "but....." bit.

Sounds a bit lame to me...give it a go but they will just ask why you did not leave a note on it or just contact to cops or someone to let em know

It's extremely lame, but I reckon I'm going to try it. What the hell, if I don't hear back I'll just pay it online in a fortnight before they double the penalty.

Sadly zero. Best pay up before you get the double penalty.

Hi,

I used to park reguarly in Margaret St. just off Regent St. and I saw a couple of times a guy on a fairly old tatty bike, parking out of the bike bay, get on his bike put his lid on and throw away his parking ticket before riding off.

Is this illegal ? Can't you just say " There was no ticket on the bike, when I returned to it "

Cheers
