Default Think I did my first wheelie today!

I was accelerating hard off some traffic lights and I suddenly got this massive feeling of exileration and felt a physical rush of energy come up from my stomach - really weird!
I told my other half about this and he reckons I must of done a wheelie - what do you think?

It was either an involuntary o***** or you nearly cr*pped yourself .

If it was a wheelie you'd have felt the front lift unmistakenly, so it's likely that you just gave it so much welly that it rose up on the front suspension rather than lifted the wheel off the ground. Practice makes perfect .

Possible, a wheelie can give some people odd stomach feelings. Did you get a sense of the clocks on the bike getting any closer?

nah - maybe the front suspension just lifted a bit more than normal...

god knows what'll happen if I do do a wheelie then! think I'd better keep to 2 wheels....

Did you notice a slight wobble from the front end when the 'may of been a wheelie' ended? When I do them accidentally, I find that I rarely have the front dead centre so there's a little bit of movement when it comes down. If not, as jonboy says, it's more likely that the front just went light due to it going up on the suspension as the weight shifted to the back.

NB: I also discovered at the weekend that an overloaded tail pack makes a great wheelie aid.

Now I know why some people like topboxes so much...

You'll be surprised how far up the suspension comes before the wheel lifts off of the ground. I know when I was purposly trying to wheelie my SV I was sure the wheel was up, but my son, watching me, just kept shaking his head.

I got there eventually, but never tried to do it again...

It gives me comfort to know that even with some effort, the SV doesn't want to get it's front wheel off of the floor. Especially when the lights change.

Trust me, the SV wheelies extremely easily, it's just a question of technique. Because I've got a 46 tooth rear sprocket and a 4 degree ignition advancer, my bike will wheelie off the throttle in first (without rolling on and off) at 3k revs . However take it to 7k and it won't. One more example of the SV's low-down torque, the engine just loves pulling from almost nothing .

I think im getting pretty close to perfecting wheelies, especially with the aid of the clutch

A slow, snail pace ride with my Dad yesterday gave me some good practice out of the corners. Well I had to amuse myself somehow

another reason why you should have an SV,the ladies love them well the vibration through the pillion seat anyway! Took a friend from uni on the back once, she kept gripping tighter and then suddenly let go and relaxed. Looked a bit flushed when she got off too,I drew my own conclusions \/
