Hi guys,
Well its been 4 months since I last rode a bike (on the road) after my accident in July, and I decided that my best bet was another SV, bearing in mind that the insurance had leapt up a couple of hundred quid, and the SV is the cheapest 'big bike' that I can get insured on. There was no way that I could downgrade after riding the SV, it just wouldnt feel right. Anyway, searched around for a while before finding the bike I bought on Friday. Its a 2000 X-Reg model, in blue, with a scorpion removable baffle can fitted. It has done 29000 miles, but it rides smooth as anything. It looks like its been looked after nicely, there's no dents, or breaks in the plastics, but there are a couple of small scratches from what looks like the previous rider's jacket zips or so on. When I picked it up, it needed a new rear tyre, MOT, and tax. I bought the bike for £1300, and the tyre/MOT cost £120(ish) plus half years tax £33. Which makes £1450ish for a new bike in nice condition. Considering my previous bike cost £2250 I think I got a bargain! Pictures to come at the weekend! Ride Safe Jake |

I know that felling of finally getting a bike after a longish involuntary lay off (if you know what I mean) and it's a nice find from the sound of it.

Yea it is, I felt as nervous as I did on my first lesson when I got back on a bike after my last off, and maybe a knackered old XJ900S wasn't the best bike to jump on after 9 months off a bike after writing off a GPZ500S. It's good to be aware of such things but try not to focus on them too much, I did and it made riding really unpleasant but once I started to relax a bit more things improved greatly (enjoyment and observation wise).

I agree, it has made me aware, but a bit too aware if you get what I mean!

Glads to see you're back on a bike Jake, that accident you had was a real nasty one and it must have taken some courage to decide to return to biking.

You can call it courage if you want, but I just say its so deep in my blood, there's no other way around it
![]() Oh, and if I could remember any of the crash (or the day of it) then it MAY have put me off, and I would probably have been very wary of getting back on. But luckily, I cant remember, so thats probably a bonus! |

I am picking up a new SV650 K4 in yellow today after having around a month off (surprisingly quick insurance payout!), went for a test ride on it last Saturday and I was really nervous about binning it (it was a bit wet, but nowhere near as wet as when I came off). Luckily all felt good, exactly like my old bike and I can't wait to pick it up later and get back in to the groove - I just hope its dry this weekend!
Cheers, Matt |
