Default Which Gloves - wrong section I know...

...but time dependant and people don't seem to check the clothing section that often.

After this morning I need some new gloves... Summer ones just aren't worth the pain. So thinking about either the A* tech road or A* jet roads. Contemplating stopping at Infinity this evening to pick up a pair. Their price is "Alpinestar Jet Road Gore-Tex Gloves - £67.99"

Three questions:
1) Is there a discernible difference between the Jets and the techs? Does it warrant the additional costs?
2) If I were to take the Jet's, could I get them much cheaper elsewhere...?
3) Are there any other gloves I should consider that offer knuckle protection and relatively decent warmth and water resistance.

Thanks.

A* gloves are the only A* apparel that I could recommend. The rest of their clothing is rubbish. I have confidence in the gloves, as a pair saved my hand last year.

I don't know what they're like for insulation or waterproofness... see my sticky thread in this section.

The Frank Thomas ones with all their heat proof insulation and dunk-in-a-bucket waterproofness seem excellent, and I've heard good info.

Generally, make sure you buy big, and that they're supple and easy to move - ie: fabric. Cold hands don't move easily.

I bought some Spada waterproof gloves. I've just noticed it's got a little strip of wiper-blade stitched onto the left thumb. Not been out in the rain to try them yet though.

I had a pair of Jet Road A* gloves, and very good they were to, the only thing I could fault them on was the fact that for me, the cuff is to short and after a long ride I would have a gap between my jacket and the glove that would let the wet in or cold air. Apart from that, they were both waterproof and warm, however I did find after a couple of rides in very very very heavy rain I would have wet hands.

I binned them in the end as two winters of riding left them very stinky and not waterproof anymore.

I have a different pair of A* gloves now, I've got a pair of WR1's now also gortex but these are much warmer and have a thicker liner in, they also have a drawstring on them round the cuff and they are much longer in the cuff to which for me is better for a winter glove. They dont have any armour on them like the Jet Road though.

If you want to find them cheap the try J & S website for starters
