I bought my SV two weeks ago, rode in the wet last week then washed it and sprayed it with pro-care the rear brake was not at all good. I cleaned the rear disc and rode again tonight in the dry but the rear brake still seems poor is this generic or might I have some thing wrong.

Sounds like its time to strip and clean caliper, if needed fit new pads.
If pads still thick enough then flat down face of pads lightly with medium sandpaper. I have always found rear brake to be more than adequate for the job ![]() Is it possible brake might need bleeding? or is it just seized off? Are pads just polished? |

Would heating the pads with a blow torch burn off and grease f that is the problem. It was services befor I got the bike so pads should be ok

No, you dont want to do that, it would just allow grease to penertrate further into the pads.
If you have grease on pads and you have used them its doubtful if you can save them as heat generated would have soaked grease in to pads. You need new pads and clean disc very well before fitting new pads. Its a learning lesson I think ![]() |

I've got a spare rear calliper and rear master cylinder for sale.
Might be easiest to just buy another. At least you won't have to bleed the brakes again ![]() |

It's worth a try I would say for a back brake. Wouldn't recommend it for the fronts though. If it doesn't work, get some new pads. They ain't that expensive. Do make sure that the disc is clean of all grease and oil though. |

Pads look OK
Put new fluid in, Let my mate ride it and he agrees the brakes dont work. The caliper is free and sliding and I can see the piston moving. |
