Going down a tooth on the front, is said to significantly increase the wear on the chain, and the sprocket. Instead, increasing the teeth on the rear will have the same effect, and spread the load more effectively.
As for exhausts, it depends how much you've got to spend. New systems are lovely, and much better quality than the "stainless" steel pipes that come as standard. However, you'll be looking at about £500+. Most people get by with a slip-on can, which bring plenty of smiles.

Just put a 47 tooth sprocket on the back, leave the front at 15 - no increase in wear, lots of acceleration

If you're looking for systems, some excellent deals come up on Ebay- though 2005 ones will be relatively hard to come by. Not totally compatible with any older years, y'see, due to the differetn rear subframe. None of hte 3 full systems I've owned cost more than £250, one cost £80
