Default Biggest SUPRISE expense on your bike?

The ABS on my car has been playing up for a while, obviously the dealers didnt have a clue untill today when the dash lit up like a christmas tree and their computer could point them in the right direction.

anyway £370 for a new driveshaft...

Whats the biggest suprise you've had so far?

How does £700+ for the 8000 mile service on a Kwak zx6r sound? The bike was still under warranty so went to the main dealer and had the usual major service stuff done. This included valve clearances and brake fluid change but I thought it was steep.I would now do most of it myself and use non franchised place for anything else.

Jesus.. I'll be paying £300 for my major in a few weeks on my ZX-6R... looks like someone was taking the pee when they charged you that!

According to my service book, the valve clearances are done at the major on 15,000 miles... as well as brake fluid change.. sounds like they took a bit too long and charged you for stuff that didnt need doing!

It was four years ago and the kwaks did require valves at 8000 miles then. They used to have an odd service system where the 4000 miler was just an oil change and then everything got done at the main service. This was done by a dealership that is no longer with us so I suppose what goes around comes around eh?

My wife when out of the blue she decided she would give this pillion lark a go. Now have to buy a full 2nd set of kit and worst thing is none of the kit will fit me.

Now she is talking about doing her test and that means a whole new bike.

Biggest suprise to me I can tell you.

The biggest surprise expense for me was........

My chain snapping half way through an overtake on a left hand bend. The word surprise doesn't do the moment justice.

Service, front caliper strip and rebuild, new chain and sprocket all at the same time

Was just over £500

Falling off my ER5 and it not actually hitting anything, then being told that thew front wheel was slightly buckled and that'll be £400 please. You can buy a whole ER5 for that. Almost.
