Default Useless hugger?

My curvy came with a hugger when I got it second hand. I've noticed, though, that it does very little to protect the shock/swingarm etc. from crud. I've had to wash it down twice in under a week because of the mess. I think this is because the hugger does not in any way cover the sides of the wheel (I think it's the Pyramid one). Are other huggers better?

I've got the genuine suzuki one on mine, still get a bit of muck on the swingarm which i think you will with any of them, all i get on the shock though is a bit of lube fling from the chain.

Neither hugger I've had has done much to protect the arm, but the Pyramids one (the wee one that cableties to the swingarm) has been just as effective as the old one I had (Powerbronze?) at protecting the shock.

Many of the NWS huggers have an extended section that reaches down through the swingarm web and covers the shock - the one on my Kawasaki does and it gives excellent protection to the shock.

Not going to be much help, but my second hand K2 came with hugger already fitted (don't know what make) and shock/swingarm/undertray still gets dirty in the wet.

I've got an NWS one on my curvey, it doesnt mount like that though, however it does seem to do a reasonable job, and covers a fair bit of the rear wheel. I cant really tell though as by the time I got my bike the rear shock was pretty manky, however though I dont think its got any dirtier

TBH its a nice bit of kit though

You can't stop crud swirling round and getting on all parts of the bike if you ride it in the wet but the hugger will stop stuff firing off the back tyre at the shock. And another vote for NWS here as they do quality stuff that bolts on properly. They sometimes do sales of slight seconds as well which are worth a look.

I did find the Pyramids hugger (the one you zip tie in) is ever so close to the tyre, on mine probably abount 0.5cm away. It also has an extended bit down but not huge.

As does the pyramid one.

I personally don't think it's possible to keep the shock away from ALL of the crap unless it was completely enclosed. I have found that the pyramid one is the best hugger that I have found for keeping the shock clean and dirt free
