so come on then what can you lot tell me about the differances between K3 and K4 forks?
I have a set of forks that are a bit bananna shaped after my off at cartegena. these have a preload adjuster with a flat blade screw type adjustment on the top. my ones i picked up from ebay have a prel;oad adjuster with a snanner type adjuster and i have this sikening feeling they are from a 1000 in which case they are useless to me? could someone clarify if i have just got a set of K4 ones or something else? |

K3, K4 and K5 forks from the SV650 are the same.
Forks from a 1000 will have a larger diameter. Perhaps you have forks from a pre-injection bike which are different (both the adjusters and the spindle). |

There is no difference between the forks on a K3 650, and a K4 650.
However, the 1000 ones are very different, and first off - they're a different diameter, so you'll need: new yokes, probably a new headrace, new axle, new wheel, new brakes, probably a new brake lever. Basically - you'll need the rest of the front end. Assuming that you did end up with 1000 forks. You might have ended up with a set of pre-preload adjuster forks, in which case they've come from a K1 and earlier. You'll be able to use your fork caps I think to give them preload capability, and I assume that everythign else will still fit - however I know there are differences at the bottom end where the axle is gripped, throughout the generations. Not sure if it's an issue though.

Having thought about it a bit more I think you have forks from the early model. No use to you I'm afraid.

A mate of mine is after some sv650 pre load adjusters as he's doing a fork upgrade on his bandit.
Doubt he'd want to buy the bananna forks but if you want to sell just the caps let me know. |
