Sounds like you need a new fan & some new heat compound between your coolings fins and the processor

I've just received a brand new super-duper fan in the post today, supposed to be ultra quiet and looks really funky:
http://www.quietpc.com/uk/amdcooling.php I've got the Katana, and it's one of this weekend's little jobs. (I've dealt with this company before and their service is excellent) . |

What the others have said about a new fan and some heat compound is good advice.
One more thing to check, have you made sure that you PC isnt buried under a pile of papers / magazines and theres enough room for air to circulate around it. We have problems like this all the time at work, and you go to look at the PC and find that the end user has buried the PC under piles of paperwork and everything underneath their desk and all the cooling vents etc are blocked so it just overheats.

Have had same problem at work before with PC's that had AMD processors
Some ran so hot they actually discoloured the mother board ![]() Fitted some heavy duty cooling fins & fan which sorted the problems Also have found that if the ambient temp in the room is quite high, i.e. usually about 35-40 C in most of the girlie's office's in our place ![]() |
