Hi,
Any suggestions how to remove / touch up skid / scuff marks off the fairing that I had from a low speed off at turning? I have fully faired metalic silver sv650s K2. Thanks. |

Its very hard to offer advise sight unseen so the advise is generic.
Given we are talking minor scuffing here First off ya need to clean off the rubbish from the track--he easiest way is to use 2 way thinners. Next use cutting compound on the affected area to clean up the minor scratches. Your local car accessory place should have touch up paint in tiny pots with brushes -get the best color match you can and brush it into the scratches Wont look perfect but wont look too bad. |

I have a web address at work that sells Suzuki paint I'll dig it out later. something like www.bike-paint.co.uk
Blow me thats it ![]() It's about £7.95 for a touch up pot or £18 for a 500ml spray |

I think the colour codes are picked by the year of registration (/ manufacture, in case the bike was registered later)..
[/quote] I've been after a new fairing for my bike cos when I bought it there was a colour mismatch from a low speed drop where the previous owner had bought a new fairing but not matched the colour very well. I'd buy some paint if I knew where I could get it sprayed. any ideas anyone? You didn't say if it's scratched through to the panel... The finish is fairly thick, and with the silver if it's not hit the black at the bottom you could probably effect a decent repair with wet and dry (1200, I'd say, used wet) and G3 or t-cut to finish. But if it's through to the plastic only paint will fix that. I don't rate touch-ups myself, I've never got close to a good finish with metallics (you can't sand back a metallic without getting a strange flakey effect) but solids can usually work reasonably well. I doubt it'll ever look better than a patch.
A proper repair doens't have to be expensive- you'll probably pay around a tenner for touch up paint at the least, which will go a good way towards a respray. Might be worth PMing Big Al (or googling for Just Painted)

All good advice, but I agree with Northy from experience touch up and heavy metallics don't mix well and aerosols use a different kind of solvent than the type used on your bike originally and cause a real nasty reaction.
