When you say you cant afford to replace both how much budget do you have ? I had a set of Metz Z6's fitted ride in rideout for £165. I know its a bit more than just a rear but its not alot and you wont regret swapping for Metz Z6's I love em.
As for mixing I had a Front Bridgestone 010 and Rear Bridgestone 020. It was fine to ride on. As the softer more grippy tyre was on the front of the bike. I quite liked the handling of the bike that way. However when I switched to a set of Z6's I found the handling better on the Z6's that the Bridgestones. Personally I dont think you are going to find anything to work with the Metz4 front tyre. I certainly wouldnt mix manufacturers of tyre. If you can stretch a bit further bite the bullet and replace both tyres. Go for a set of Z6's I had a set fitted last year at a cost of £165 ride in ride out. IIRC Continental Road Attacks are slightly cheaper. I've not ridden on these so I cant comment however some people love them and some people hate them. HTH

I have too experienced a Bridgestone 010 front and 020 rear. That was on my sv and i even did a trackday on that setup. Both complemented each other perfectly. I would not however recommend having different makes.
I have always had bridgestones and have bt014's atm on my RR and i love them. |

I'd have to agree, you won't get much else to work with the Metz4 front and to compound the problem the new "sticky" rear will feel good and give a false sense of grip, right up to the point the front washes out
![]() Although if financies are tight then you have to be realistic, can you buy a decent rear now and change the front next payday? if so just take it easy and be aware of the limitation and you should be OK, if you can't stomach that and know you'll be hammering the bike anyway, then you should just bite the bullet and get the pair, (or have you looked into getting a part worn front for now? kept me riding when money was an issue) Oh, and are you in for a treat, coming from the originals anything is way better. I've got no problem with mixing tyres, and have been forced or chosen to on a number of occasions myself, but always make the front the best (stickest, warms up the fastest) if you can. Currently I run a Metz Z6 rear with a Diablo front, I like the feel, but then money isn't an issue it's more personnel choice. Cheers Mark.
