I had a good old scrub of mine today.. took the hugger off, and attacked the swingarm with parfine to get most of the gunk off... then cleaned the chain down, and the rest... back of the bike actualy looks clean now!
All thats needed now is to take the panels all off, and the tank, and scrub up the engine and the gunk off the inside of the panels.. then I'd give it a week.. maybe two until it was caked again! ![]() ![]() Anyways, I got a link pipe for my Remus due shortly.. so that was brought out and Autosol'd up in readiness... and you thought a ZX636 was loud with a standard can on at 16K rpm ![]() ![]() Suppose I should take photos of my green thing one day... and the bike ![]() ![]() |

Valleyboy. How you doing? There was nothing wrong with your bike when we went out the other week, very tidy mate, must look gorgeous now.. The bike mate, the bike...
WHat do you mean by cleaned the chain ad how did you do it??? I think mine needs some maintenance or even replacing. I had it on the stand last night and put it in gear to lube the chain and it's clicking and at some point in it it jumps up and down. Doesn't happen when you do it by hand though.. Hmmm ![]() Stretchie

Alright Mr Henry, less the leek thing!
![]() Not too bad Stretchie, dying of boredom up here though.. getting depressed on my tod! my mates had chicken pox for a while, and has been too ill to go out on his bike.. which is probably a good thing... as hes got a CBR600 and knows how to use it.. Im starting to push the Kwak a bit now, in some good ways, and some bad ![]() Im lucky the police dont do very much around here... dont think 110 in a 60 is good for ones lisence ![]() lots of dirty roads around here.. bike gets stinking quickly.. add in lots of chain lube flinging around the place all sticking together.. makes for a lot of gunk to clean up! cleaning the chain.. I do have a Ketenmax thingy.. but hate it, and wont use it anymore as its next to useless as it falls appart! Bike up on paddock stand, scouring pad or sponge with plenty of parafine, and scrub the chain down so the gunk comes off... once it resembles something clean, attempt to wash parafine off with some water.. let it dry a bit, then get chain lube on ASAP.. otherwise it may start rusting.. or you'll forget about it ![]() I have also been told its a good thing to get the chain off and let it soak in parafine every now and again.... though mines an endless type.. so swingarm needs to come off for me to do that! Im very particular with my bike.. I over clean it sometimes.. and considering Im a 15K+ miles per year person on my bike.. it means a lot of cleaning! I like to see the thing shine ![]() So once weather is better, the bike will be stripped of all plastics, and get a good scrubbing down... and then I'll do my party trick and crash the bloody thing! ![]() |

Well Valleyboy, I'm far but not TOO far from you so let me know if you want to get out, I've had my bike since mid July, had less than 7,500 when I got it and just past the 14,000 mark today so I'm in your milage band too.
We could meet in the middle and have a ride here or over there. Giz a bell on 07811 201 095, the only time I'll say no (to a rideout) is when I really can't make it. I've been that chuffin lonley down here since I got here in November that I've named my bike Silver... (Cos I'm the lone ranger - ![]() And you could also point out the chain cleaning thing to me. Stretchie P.S. I thought you were taking the mick out of me with your little speed comment ![]()

Not washed my bros in ages, its a strange feeling to want to clean something, as i enjoyed riding my SV so much, i loved to clean it, but because i dont enjoy riding the bros as much, i never want to clean it!
![]() On another note, what substance can you use to get all the crud off, iv been looking at muc off and all that stuff, but there must be a chemical that wont affect the paintwork thats a bit cheaper? How does parrafin work, can you use it everywhere on the bike? |
