Hi, thinking of going to Donington this year. Just looked at the tickets on Ticketmaster, there only seems to be General Admission available. If you get a Gen Adminission ticket do you just turn up & pick your spot?
If so, anyone got any favourite viewing places? Craner Curves would I guess be mega busy, was thinking of somewhere near the run down to Foggy's Esses. Thanks in advance GregK2 |

Went last year but ****ed it down as you will probably know. Hadnt passed test so had to go in the cage
![]() Do not go in your car you will have to either queue or park 2 miles away in a local village (what I did). From what I could tell if you go on your bike you can ride right up to the course pick your spot and park and go in (dont forget your puck as you will be on grass) then about a hundred yard walk to entrance. Best spot, well take your pick. We sat under the spitfire last year on the inside of the track and got some great viewing of craners and you could see the large display with a small pair of binoculars. I also liked the fact that we were near a speaker so you could keep up with the action when there were else where on the track. although they do have track day radio. would definitely recommend it. very good day out and loads to see and do. to be honest the 250 race was a better spectical as it was still dry but I am going this year and will be on my bike this time ![]() IS anyone else going? if enough of us go we should arrange to meet somewhere on the circuit. |

we've been for the last two years, we get there mega early so we don't have to que too much as we had to cage it (bikes this year though now that my missus & my boy have one), we always have a good walk around but end up at foggy esses for some reason although my nephew stood along the start straight & highly recommends it ( time for a change maybe).
As has been said already there is lots to see & do, usually a fair few trade stands, though there were less last year but that may be down to the weather, you really need to go at least once for the experience. If you see a black pointy with a yellow curvy & a teal bandit thats us so come over & say hi, or buy us a drink. ![]() |

I've been the last four years
![]() Yep General Admission is turn up and pick your spot, Last year they put up grandstands on the start finish straight and for £25 you could have a guaranteed seat in there. I'll be going this year again. I like to have a good walk round on Friday and Saturday during qualifying and stand at different parts of the circuit to watch the riders. My favourite places are the Foggy Esses, Goddards and the section from the old hairpin up to McLeans is good as well. On Race day get there early as that way you avoid most of the heavy traffic and when you leave on race day stay as long as you can after the main race has ended watch the support races and have some food at the circuit as that way you miss most of the rush and traffic as well. The best year I had for leaving was a couple of years back and it only took an hour to get out of the carpark. Last year was the worst for traffic. But dont let that put you off, its a brilliant weekend.

Just booked mine this morning... sooooooo looking forward to it, especially if it might be the last year that Rossi is racing. Only problem is my 30th is the day before, so will have to remain relatively sober

Glad to hear the tickets are now available.
I will book mine over the next few days, 3 days general admission. Went last year and have never been as wet in all my life. It was like jumping into a swimming pool with all you clothes on and then being told to stand a watch about 3 hours of racing and then walk, what seemed like miles to the airport. At the time I swore never again, but you dry out and get over it. What I have done this year is book flights out Friday morning and return on Monday morning. The plan being to camp Friday and Saturday nights and find a hotel for the Sunday night. Last year it was out Saturday morning and home Sunday night. At least that way you can look forward to a warm shower and a bed, along with the obligitory few beers, of course. As for areas to watch it, I like to move around and find Donington one of those circuits with a lot of good viewing points. BTW, before Donington I have the North West 200 to look forward to at Portrush in May and the following weekend the BSB at Mondello. Roll on the start of the racing seasons, in all series. |

I would recommend that you get there early, have a walk around before and during the first few warm-ups and see where you like the look of! Different people like different places, so nobody will come up with the 'best' place to watch from. Craner does indeed get very busy - as do the Esses, Coppice and McLeans... Nowhere tends to be quiet though!!! Unfortunately there are a lot more advertising hoardings up nowadays that do impair the view of the track - noticeable most at Redgate, Hollywood and the run from Starkeys Bridge to McLeans for the past couple of years... Last year there were more and more signs up on the straight towards The Esses although this is not such a problem as there is restricted access for the last few hundred metres there due to the Exhibition Centre pedestrian tunnel and hospitality suite! I shall more than likely be Marshalling at Esses 'in' again this year, with a bunch of mad Marshal mates... If you end up there at any stage between races, etc, say hello - none of us in Orange bite (Unless asked nicely, of course! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
