Default Blue Flame Cans - read this before you buy - SORTED

I purchased a blue flame Titanium EVO last year in the summer, its done about 15K miles on my bike I would think, its been through a winter to.

I took it off the bike today with the view to replacing and few rivetts that had gone pop, it wont be going back on the bike and heres why

This is where the strap has rubbed through the skin of the can and split it

This is other end, notice how the rivets come out Dr Rich will know what I mean and also how the end cap has worked loose and the packing is coming out

this is the reverse of the same end of the can, notice how both rivets have gone and that the strap isnt holding the can together anymore

Same part of the can from a different angle

This is the front of the can where the link pipe goes into the can, notice how this bit has rivetts still but theres a nice split in the can along the bevelled edge of the end cap.

As you can see it hasnt stood the test of time IMHO very well at all, I have had no problems with customer service from blue flame, I love the sound of it, but utlimately I wish I had bought another can instead of this one, I wont be buying another blue flame product because of the issues with this one, I cant do much about it as its out of it warranty period.

Just make sure you read this and look at the photos if you are buying one, and dont say I or Viney didnt warn you

Now wheres that remus price list

Just had an email from Rod Gaskell, saying :

"please return the can to us ( marked for my attention) for inspection & I’ll happily replace it for you under the terms of your lifetime guarantee."

Absolute b*****ks!

There may be other manufacturers who may have products that are of a higher quality but how on earth do you expect a titanium race can to go 15k miles without getting it repacked? They just aren't designed to go that long.

Sure, the strap shouldn't have caused a problem but *that* is what happens when the packing gets very thin due to lack of maintenance!

A titanium can with very little packing will eventually fracture of it's own accord due to the power pulses of the v-twin engine. Titanium is a very fragile material, particularly when used for applications such as this.

My Akrapovic race cans used to need repacking at least once, if not twice, a season and a season is only a dozen long weekends!

Dont go to any trouble, might be interesting to hear their views on repacking as expressed by Mike above, this was never pointed out to me that I would need to repack the can when I bought it and I cant find anything on their website to say that would need repacking and maitenance.

That is my next point. Although i agree with mike about repacking, they dont state this in any of thier, usualy non existant, litrature. Anyhooo, gey yourself a Remus/Renegade/Akra/Std can!!

blueflame messed me about too, my carbon can disintergrated and fell into two parts. I recieved no refund, the only explanation was that the previous owner used a paddock stand and it must have weakened it. I was not happy at all with this, but could not find my own explanation.
