Went on hols last week and the bike cover blew off and it got drenched.
When I came back the choke would not open fully, it was running on one cylinder and it was backfiring something alarming I greased choke lever on bar and that is fine. I reckoned it was water in fuel either in carbs or tank. But now it is idling 1,000 rpm above normal and no adjustment slows it enough. Pretty cryptic I know but does anyone have any ideas??? cheers all |

Sounds like the choke cables are sticking.

Could be a vacuum leak, though that'd usually cause irregular running. Have you been under the tank at all recently?

Yup. Though it might not be a case of greasing it (though that's a good idea anyway)- there's a y-splitter down the left hand side of the carbs that can crack and allow the cables to come loose. Also, the springs in the plungers can break or corrode, causing the same effect yet again.
Or it might be something else entirely ![]()
