Default Speed Camaras

Hey,

Anyone any idea... If a mobile manned speed camara zaps you, do they pull you over there and then or send you a NIP? Reason I ask is that I was driving home from work and saw the Tw... I mean Police man and I was doing about 36/37 but he didnt move, just looked at his little toy?

Any experience would be appretiated

Dan

From experience I can tell you that the normal system is that your speed is recorded & an NIP sent automatically if applicable - it all depends on what they've set their equipment at.

If your speedo was registering "36 - 37" you may be lucky depending on if there's any 'speedo error' (10% overead is a reasonable figure if you have an analogue - 1-2% if digital)

Best of luck !!

Sweet!

[rant] I got a parking ticket yesterday for an area in the middle of nowhere which had a sign miles away apparently saying it was only a few hours parking and now a speeding ticket. I know its me being dosey but it still annoys the hell outta me. A quick hundred quid to the treasurey. At least it will be put towards keeping our transport system top notch.[/rant]

Sorry rant over. Maybe I'm luckey. Is it an urban myth your allowed 10% plus 2mph so if I was doing 35 I'll be okay?

think you may be allowed 10% plus 2mph on a dual carriageway and motorway

but not certain

Not exactly an 'urban myth' but a 'guideline' issued to local police forces - whether or not they follow this guideline is entirely up to them Some cameras are set to allow for this ie 35 in a 30 zone - however some are set AT 30 !! b*st*rds

My K5 digital speedo is pretty inaccurate - indicated 70mph is only 64/65mph - tested on long straight with both gps and mile markers. However, this is less than 10% error, which I believe is fully acceptable - I believe all speedo's over-read because they must not under-read by law.
I would imagine it would proportionally read about 32/33 for a true 30mph.
