Default DVD Recorders - Which one, how much etc etc...

I'm in the market for a DVD recorder to replace my VCR...

The question is which one is 'good' Obviously it'll need to record disks that will playback on any DVD player etc.

I'm not Baron Rothschild (and I am a Yorkshireman,) so it needs to be 'good value for money'

Thanks in advance

Im in the market for one of these as well. Obviously you get what you pay for, but im looking at one of the Panasonic midrange jobbies, with built in hard drive. About £170.

I don't need an inbuilt hard drive as I have got Sky+ now - in fact, the reason I want one is to copy programs I want to keep onto DVD

I bought a Panasonic, E30 I think. DVR-R and DVD RAM. If I hadn't managed to give it away I would have flung it off beachy head. It was the most frustrating piece of kit ever, it took about 20 seconds to check a disks contents, and the most frustrating, about 15 seconds to eject a disk. Staggeringly annoying if you are just popping disks in to check contents. Couple that to a hopeless menu system and pants remote control to complete the package.

We now have a Tesco cheapo (Teknika) DVD+R recorder, totally superb in comparison - easier to use, far more features.

I got my 'Liteon' DVD recorder from Argos. Writes and plays all discs, £99.99, no problems.
