I've managed to split my Micron Titanium Race can for a second time due, again, to the packing burning out sooner than anticipated. Micron recommended I re-pack it at 2000-3000 miles. (And also advised me not to replace the can with a carbon one, due to the back-pressure on SV650 engines.)
Last time I did this I got a free replacement. Another would be nice, but I'm getting pretty sick of broken titanium sleeves! Do any other Micron users have these problems? Has anyone put a different can on Micron header pipes? Should I just be far more careful at recording my mileage and regularly changing the packing? And surely, if the can splits down the join seam that means it isn't joined properly. I did a little welding at college and a good weld is as strong as the original material. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

This is what makes buying exhausts confusing.
I've been phoning around and dealers have been recommending akrapovic or Remus. Basically they are saying you shouldn't skim with a twin as cheap cans will just be destroyed. |
