Default Todays budget

I've read that low polluting cars will be exempt from road tax. Anyone know if this will apply to bikes too?

I think low polluting cars means, Gas and dual fuel, like the hondas and toyotas.

I'm confused (not an unusual state of affairs)

On one page it says there will be no vehicle excise duty for low emission vehicles, on another it says no increase in vehicle excise duty for low emission vehicles.

Which one is it

Most of the report was predictable though

I read that some low polluting cars arent as efficient as some modern engines so id have thought it was based on carbon emissions

Yeah, reminded me about the poem with Maggie T. taxing us at 5p a poke!
If anyone can dig it out, it's a good laugh.

I'll say thanks Mr. Brown. He didn't manage to snare me up in the 4WD gas guzzlers tax, only applies to new ones. Phew!
It really hits home when I get the same mileage per tank for bike and car!

I thought you where supposed to be working you?

Anyhoo, no real supprises, but it was not very clear, just re-reading the offical document in PDF format, heavy reading but it might make some sense.

Cheers

there aren't actually any vehicles on sale in the UK that qualify for the new zero-VED band, another stealth increase with no benefits to the majority.
