Default Computer question (camcorder input)

I am hoping to link a Panasonic Camcorder to my PC

Now the PC has USB 2 inputs but the camcorder only has one output labelled
DV/Firewire/I Link

If I get a Firewire to USB cable will it work (using Windows Movie Maker).

I ask the question because a Firewire to USB 2 cable on E Bay says specifically "not for DV"

No, you will need Firewire compaitbility for your PC. Movie maker works but its a pain. When i brought my card for my laptop, it came with Pinnacle DV Studio which does the job. Im sure i have a back up copy somewhere.

You'll need to buy a firewire card for your PC. They only cost a few quid.
